Paula -
Sorry to hear you had such a horrible experience with Chicken. I,
too, couldn't do chicken until recently. Every time I tried it, i
got really, really sick. I was about 3 months out before I could try
it.
Some people have difficulty with beef and some with chicken. I had
no problems with beef.
Hope you feel better soon... Some folks will tell you to keep trying
the chicken...but if I were you, i'd wait a while before even
attempting it again.
For what it's worth, milk has the same effect on me that chicken has
on you. I can't even have a tablespoon of milk (with or without
lactose) without vomitting and going to bed for hours.
Good luck!

RE: {WINGS} Time standing still??? Not for me!

I did Jennifer.
It seemed like the wait for approval and then a surgery date was
soooooo long...I would jump everytime the phone rang! Then when I
got my date I was like "wait a minute- I'm not ready yet!"

Time standing still??? Not for me!

Both Laura B and Jennifer G have mentioned that the time between
insurance approval and the surgery date seemed (seems) to be dragging
by - that their surgery date can't be soon enough.
I felt this way for the last six months while I was in insurance
limbo. But, now that my date is 9 days away, I am having the
opposite reaction.
I have so much that I want to get done before surgery - both at work
and at home that I am totally panicking that I do not have enough
time.
For some reason, I feel that everything in my life needs to be
cleaned, organized, and finished before surgery. Projects at work
finished, bills paid, taxes done, emails returned, phone calls made,
etc. The list goes on and on.
I am almost acting like I don't expect to ever come home. This is so
weird.
Did anyone else feel this way?

Paula, that reaction could be attributed to several things. One, could be you are not ready for solid chicken. Another could be you did not chew it up enough, or you ate too much of it. But, yes, that sounds "typical" of either one of the above to have happened. It has happened to "most" of us at one time or another. The first time that "lump" in your chest is scary! It surely does deter one from doing it again!! Just be careful to eat small bites and chew, chew, chew when you are trying new things. And, I suggest you try new things "one at a time" so you will know what it is that is bothering you. Follow the advice of your doctor, of course. We can share our experiences, but we are all different.

Carol,

Hey... don't worry about leaving the vitamins. I picked them up and will bring them to the next meeting for people who didn't get a chance to try them. You looked GREAT on Saturday by the way [INLINE] Can't wait to see less of you next month.

Almost a trip to the ER

2009-01-05 05:12:02

Hello all-
Saturday night I thought I would try a bite or 2 of chicken, BIG
mistake. I have never felt so crappy, throwing up and feeling like I
had something stuck in my chest. I assume it's because my body
wasn't ready for the chicken. I was so scared I thought I was going
to have to call Dr. Hart, however I went to sleep as the constant
vomitting exhausted me. Please let me know if this is "typical" when
your body isn't ready for something. Also, my pouch is still sore, I
assume it is because it is probably still irritated from being ill,
any suggestions?

Kyla:
Good luck tomorrow! I'll tell ya, I think the pain from the cocktail
for me was not too far removed form the pain of surgery! My stomach
did not like that fleet at all! I had never had one before and I
cramped for about 3-4 hours before I was ever able to go to the
bathroom! I hope you have a much more pleasant experience. I know
Dr. Hart will take care of you tomorrow and I will say a little
prayer for you as well!
